![]() The platform has been used by Catania and Syracuse municipalities, two of the main cities of southern Italy, located in the Sicilian region. The platform has been defined by the media as a flexible (enable the addition of any kind of application or service) and open (enable access to open services) Italian "cloud" that allows public administrations to access to a vast knowledge base represented as linked open data to be reused by a stakeholder community with the aim of developing new applications ("Cloud Apps") tailored to the specific needs of citizens. The aim of the project is to constitute a new model of digital ecosystem that can support and enable new methods of interaction among public administrations, citizens, companies, and other stakeholders surrounding cities. The citizen engagement platform is the outcome of a 3-year Italian national project called PRISMA (Interoperable cloud platforms for smart government). This paper introduces an open, interoperable, and cloud-computing-based citizen engagement platform for the management of administrative processes of public administrations, which also increases the engagement of citizens. ![]() The study also underscores the important role that needs to be played by professional bodies, industry organizations, standards bodies and the government in the development of an organizing vision for emerging technologies. A major implication of this study is that adequate interpretation of cloud computing plays a role in its legitimation as an innovation of value. The results further indicate that there is a significant relationship between interpretation and legitimation and legitimation and mobilization. A section of the results indicates that there is no significant relationship between the organizing vision functions and cloud computing adoption. A firm level cross sectional survey was conducted on a sample of 93 firms in the financial, manufacturing and the ICT sectors. The research model was tested using structural equation modelling (PLS SEM). The relationships amongst interpretation, legitimation and mobilization as functions of the organizing vision and cloud computing adoption was conceptualized through a priori research model. ![]() ![]() Given that cloud computing adoption has been steadily increasing in Kenya, the current study aims at investigating the determinants of cloud computing adoption from an organizing vision perspective. While significant progress has been achieved in enhancing the understanding of cloud computing adoption through the rationalistic lenses, this study, steps out to adopt an organizing vision perspective. Most studies investigating cloud computing adoption have proceeded along the contours of rationalistic perspectives. Key amongst these studies is the adoption of cloud computing. Cloud computing as an emerging IT innovation has attracted a growing number of studies in recent years. ![]()
